In Stephin L. Carter's article, "Just Be Nice", he states how the younger generation uses the rights act to act inappropriately. Using slang and wearing baggy pants is an example of how they try to show their 'rights'. He feels that they have lost their manners and respect for the individual. I would have to agree with him to some extent. I think he is correct in saying that we have become lazy with our words and use rights as an excuse to be crude and rude. We do have a choice, but it's what we do with that choice that matters.
